Cheryl Sesnon Executive Director
Cheryl is dedicated to assisting people to find a pathway out of hopelessness and into lives of hope and fulfillment. Life challenges in Cheryl’s own personal history created a calling to work in the nonprofit sector. She cherishes the opportunity to reach out to women to help them begin a new path in life, as people did for her when she needed it.
Prior to coming to Jubilee, she served as the Executive Director of Washington CASH (Community Alliance for Self-Help), a microfinance and microenterprise training organization. From 1994 to 2000, Cheryl acted as the Executive Director of FareStart, a job training program for homeless men and women – and Jubilee partner. Following FareStart, Cheryl spent seven years as a consultant and trainer for nonprofits, working locally, nationally, and internationally.
Cheryl received the 2009 Aubrey Davis Award for Progressive Leadership. In 2010, she received the SBA (Small Business Administration) award for “Home-Based Business Champion of the Year,” both for Washington State and the four-state region. In 2012, Cheryl was recognized with the “More Than Words” award from Harlequin Publishing, a national award honoring ordinary women making extraordinary contributions to their communities. In 2014 Seattle University honored her with the “Lead, Ignite Award.” In addition, Cheryl serves on the Board of Directors for the Seattle Chapter of Les Dames d’ Escoffier and has served as a volunteer with Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH) since 2003, where she teaches leadership seminars for directors of orphanages throughout Central America.
Cheryl has a masters degree in Nonprofit Leadership and has served as an adjunct professor at Seattle University. Most recently, she was awarded the Seattle University 2016 Community Service Alumni Award in recognition of her exceptional service and leadership in the community. Also in 2016, US Senator Patty Murray presented Cheryl with a Golden Tennis Shoe Award which celebrates people who have made extraordinary accomplishments in service of others.
