our free boutique
Monday, 01 June 2009 13:23
Along with opening Jubilee’s clothing boutique each week to our residents and alumnae, every Tuesday morning we open the boutique to homeless and low-income women in our community. The boutique has served over 100 women so far this year from shelters, other transitional homes, or who are staying with a friend or family. Some women come to the boutique to find clothing for an interview or job, others need clothing because they had to leave their abusive partner quickly and had no time to pack any of their belongings, and we even had women come earlier this year to replenish their wardrobe from this winter’s flooding.
Each Tuesday we get coffee and pastry donations from Tully’s on Aloha & 19th. Our volunteers set it up so that the women feel like they’re shopping in a nice boutique; they help them put outfits together and make sure they get everything they’re looking for. The best part of this is that everything has been donated by women in our community and is 100% free. What an amazing amount of community support and generosity for our residents, alumnae, and homeless & low-income women!
Thank you to all individuals who have donated your consignment-quality, business and casual clothing (and brand new undergarments) to Jubilee’s free clothing boutique. Your generosity has touched so many women in need this year!
