Meet Joe Woo. Joe comes to Jubilee every Monday morning with fresh bread donated by Essential Baking Company for our residents. He volunteers to make this weekly pickup because he wants to help offset the daily living costs that are often challenging for our residents. Just a few weeks after Joe began making the bread delivery, I was telling him how much our residents’ appreciate the fresh bread and he asked me a very simple question: “What else do you all need?” Since that day, Joe has asked me this question probably a dozen times. So now, along with bread, Joe has begun to bring other things for the house on a regular basis: vegetables, meat, dish soap, toilet paper. But he wasn’t interested in leaving it at that. He still asks me, “What else do you all need?”
Joe is now a Table Captain for our annual Benefit Breakfast coming up on October 7th. In just a few months, he has done so much for Jubilee; he has made deliveries of clothing from Take 2 Consignment, he’s introduced friends to Jubilee, he’s even made trips to the dump! Yesterday he told me that he’d like to be available on Mondays to “take a look at anything that might need to be fixed.” Joe is an ambassador for Jubilee and a handy man. His constant energy and enthusiasm for doing more is inspiring and uplifting and all stems from that simple question, “What else do you all need?” Thank you Joe, for bringing us what we need and much, much more!
