Formerly a ministry of the Sisters of Providence, Sojourner Place joined Jubilee Women’s Center in 2014. The transitional home, named in honor of former slave, abolishionist, and women’s rights activist Sojourner Truth, accommodates 11 low-income single women (including pregnant homeless women) while they rebuild their lives and move toward self-sufficiency.

Sojourner Place residents have access to comprehensive support including on-site care management, advocacy and referral services, life skills classes, family reunification, as well as food and other basics. Women living at Sojourner Place also have access to all Jubilee Women’s Center learning opportunities, a free clothing boutique and community activities at the Capitol Hill location.
